Jefri Bolkiah Engineering College


Jefri Bolkiah Engineering College is a further education college based in Kuala BelaitBrunei. Originally established in 1970 as an engineering craft trade school, in 1987 it was upgraded to a College of Engineering.


Courses are offered through departments within the College organisational structure and these sections include :Departments

The College offers a range technical engineering and ad-hoc courses to meet the training demands of the public and private sectors of Brunei Darussalam economy. The College operates closely with the Brunei Shell Petroleum Training Centre at Seria.
National Diploma level courses of 2½ years duration are offered on a sandwich basis and lead to the National Diploma. These courses include :
  • Instrumentation and Control Engineering (ICE)
  • Electrical and Electronic Engineering (No longer offered in MKJB from 2011 onwards, Available at Nakhoda Ragam Vocational school, SVNR)
  • Marine Engineering (ME)
  • Computer & Network Engineering (CNE)
  • Process Engineering (PE)
  • Automotive Engineering (No longer offered in MKJB, available at Pusat Latihan Mekanikal)
  • Building Services Engineering (BSE)
  • Computer Engineering (CE)
  • Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (MME)
  • Fabrication and Welding Engineering (FWE)
The sandwich method of course delivery consists of alternate periods of instruction at the College and training with an employer on-the-job attachment (6 months).
Jefri Bolkiah College of Engineering have phased out the NTC (National Trade Certificate) level in 2010 and thus now provides only BDTVEC (Brunei Darussalam Technical & Vocational Education Council) PND (Pre-National Diploma) & ND (National Diploma) for students who completed their BGCE 'O' & 'A' Level examinations.
The educational syllabus for a year is divided into 3 or 2 'Phase Test' (Varies for each subject) for student examination assessment.
